Barbara Walters Retiring In 2014

May 13, 2013 | 03:01 PM PDT

Filed under: Barbara Walters, NEWS, Politics, New TV, The View, ABC

WT411 called this one back in March: Barbara Walters is going to retire in 2014 after 53 years in the business, 37 of them with ABC. Announcing the news this morning on The View, Walters says, "I am not walking into the sunset. I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain. I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women - and OK, some men too - who will be taking my place."

Barbara's career began in 1974 as an anchor on NBC's Today. She would later become the first female to anchor a network evening newscast. A fascinating woman and an astonishing career.

Job well done, Barbara! Let the victory lap begin!

John McCain Wants To Lower Your Cable Bill!

May 11, 2013 | 07:00 AM PDT

Filed under: NEWS, Politics, New TV

If you could buy individual TV channels, would you pay for over 20?
And who can argue with him? Cable and Internet prices are outta control, and Senator John McCain wants it to stop. The republican politician introduced legislation last week that would kill cable companies from bundling their services, aka grouping channels and selling them together. If McCain's proposal passes, customers would be able to pay for the channels they actually watch, and not for the ones they don't.

What do you think of McCain's idea? Sorta makes sense to me.

Ben Affleck To Live On $1.50 A Day

Will Ben Affleck cheat on living on less than $1.50 a day?

Ben Affleck is putting his money where his mouth is, literally. The Oscar winner has agreed to Global Poverty Project's Live Below the Line campaign, which challenges people to live below the poverty line for five days. That means living on only $7.50 for the entire five days, or $1.50 a day.

Affleck tweeted the news to his followers, "1.4 billion people live on less than $1.50/day. I'm joining Live #BelowTheLine on behalf of @easterncongo. Will you?" Well, will ya?

She sported a new shorter do, joked around with co-presenter Harvey Weinstein, and then flubbed Bill Clinton's intro as he won the Advocate For Change Award at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Jennifer Lawrence was the brunt of several jokes by both Harvey and Clinton. The former president said, "I don't know why Harvey made Jennifer do that. She really was like 2-years-old when I became president. I met her backstage and she looked like she was touring the Museum of Natural History."

Just another reason we love JLaw! Always entertaining, never dull.

Ann Curry Vindicated By "Today Show" Book

April 20, 2013 | 07:00 AM PDT

Filed under: Matt Lauer, NEWS, Politics, Today Show, NBC, Books

Should Ann Curry join "Good Morning America" to spite "The Today Show"?

It's no secret that Ann Curry wasn't treated the way she shoulda been by NBC and The Today Show. Working on the show for some 15 years, NBC gave her the boot last summer after ratings declined with her in the co-anchoring role opposite Matt Lauer. In a new book titled Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV, New York Times writer Brian Stetler says Ann was put through hell by her former bosses at Today. A source with access to the book tells RadarOnline that the book vindicates Ann and demonizes both NBC and Lauer.

The book hits stores next week. To read more about the book, click on the link.

Would you want to visit Cuba if you were allowed by the United States?

Nothing wrong with two superstars celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary with a trip abroad, right? Actually, when it's Cuba, there's plenty wrong with it! Jay-Z and Beyoncé's trip to communist Cuba has some Republican lawmakers in an uproar.

The U.S. prohibits us citizens from traveling to Cuba, so Florida Senator Marco Rubio demanded to learn why Jay & Bey were allowed to make the trip. According to Reuters, the vaycay was licensed by the U.S. Treasury Department under the "people-to-people" cultural exchange program. Rubio released a statement saying, "U.S. law clearly bans tourism to Cuba by American citizens because it provides money to a cruel, repressive and murderous regime. Since their inception, the Obama Administration's 'people to people' cultural exchange programs have been abused by tourists who have no interest in the Cuban people's freedom and either don't realize or don't care that they're essentially funding the regime's systematic trampling of people's human rights."

Where do you stand? Should Jay-Z and Beyoncé have picked a less-controversial spot??

Most of Britain's females would love a kiss on the cheek from Prince William, but not the case for four-year-old Shona Ritchie. Greeting "fans" outside the Emirates Arena in Glasglow, Shona handed the royal a rose, but then dissed his attempt at a kiss!

Too funny… and cute.

Prince Harry Returning To The USA!

March 30, 2013 | 01:43 PM PDT

Filed under: Prince Harry, Politics, NEWS, Royals, Celebrity Scandal

Do you feel bad for Prince Harry because he'll always be second fiddle?

Uh ooh, look out America, Prince Harry is bringing his royal self back to the USA! Who can forget his visit last August when he played a little strip pool at his hotel in Las Vegas!

According to the royal family, this trip will be much more tame for the man third in line for the throne (At least they hope!). Prince Harry will visit Colorado, Connecticut and the Jersey Shore...not Vegas! The tour will promote various charities and causes. It kicks off on May 9th in Colorado, then he will travel to NJ and Connecticut before returning on May 15th. The itinerary doesn't including getting naked, but that's of course TBD.

I freaking love this dude. He makes that whole royal family a little exciting!

Did producers of "The Bible" intentionally make Satan look like Obama?

Here's one way to create controversy: produce a television series called The Bible and make Satan look eerily like the President of the United States! History Channel's miniseries is getting rave reviews, but their take on Satan has some in an uproar. Making his first appearance during last night's episode, some say the devil looks a little too close to President Obama.

What do you think? Unintentional? Or were producers trying to send a hidden message? You might recall the HBO show Game of Thrones put what looked like George W. Bush's head on a stake last year

The World Has A New Pope!

March 14, 2013 | 07:00 AM PDT

Filed under: Politics, NEWS, Pope Francis I

Will Pope Francis be able to improve the image of the Catholic Church?
After two weeks of the world being pope-less, all is once again right on planet Earth as the College of Cardinals elected the 266th Pope. Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the new leader of 1.2 billion Catholics has taken the name Pope Francis I. Bergoglio had been a cardinal since being elevated to that status by Pope John Paul II in 2001. Pope Francis is the first Latin American pope, and is described as a humble leader by those who know him.

Looking forward to seeing how he leads the church through these trying times. AMEN!
