Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe doesn't just credit Ryan Seacrest for making American Idol great; he thinks the show would struggle to survive without him! TMZ caught up with the Idol EP yesterday in L.A. and Nigel seemed to have plenty of time to chat with the paparazzo. Nigel said of Seacrest, "He controls the show. He's really important… It would be very, very difficult to replace Ryan Seacrest."

What do you think? Would Idol survive without RS?

Britney Spears Looking To Do A Sitcom?!

January 08, 2013 | 03:16 PM PST

Filed under: Britney Spears, X Factor, Rumorville, New TV

Would a sitcom with Britney Spears in the lead role last even a season?
Wait… if she could act, wouldn't Britney Spears be able to hide those disgusted emotions a little better on The X Factor?! According to Radar Online, Britney Spears is looking to ditch the judging competition show in favor of doing a scripted sitcom. Her manager, Larry Rudolph, is said to be reading potential scripts right now. One source says, "She (Britney) actually has very natural comedic talents and is very funny, in an airhead sort of way."

Ha! That is funny! Britney on a sitcom? Good or bad idea??

Ryan Lochte Lands His Own Reality Show

January 08, 2013 | 07:00 AM PST

Is Ryan Lochte's desire to be on television a little shallow?
Ever since he tasted fame at last year's Olympics, five-time gold medal swimmer Ryan Lochte has been desperate to stay relevant. He made a cameo on 90210, expressed interest in Dancing with the Stars, and pleaded to be the next Bachelor. Lochte's prayers were answered yesterday when E! announced a new reality series titled What Would Ryan Lochte Do?

According to the network, the series takes viewers "inside the unpredictable and offbeat life of the 2012 London Olympic Games' breakout star." The show will document Lochte as he tries to find his soul mate and continues his training for the 2016 Olympics.

Sounds like a yawner to me. Anyone else?

Steve Carell Won't Return For "Office" Finale

January 07, 2013 | 03:34 PM PST

Filed under: Steve Carell, NBC, The Office, New TV

Does Steve Carell owe "The Office" at least a cameo for its finale?

Boohoo! Apparently Steve Carell is grumpy pants Steve Carell when it comes to returning for the series finale of The Office. NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said he's still hopeful that Michael Scott will return for the end, but it doesn't look good. Greenblatt says of Carell, "He left in the way he wanted to leave, and he and executive producer Greg Daniels talked about it, and I don't think he will. There's maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo, but I think the decision is that it will go out without him sort of compromising his exit."  ;(

The Office returns from the holiday hiatus this Thursday, and will come to a close forever sometime in May.

Narrated by Tom Hanks, produced by Ridley Scott, and co-written by Bill O'Reilly, Killing Lincoln chronicles the president's final days in 1865 and the plot by his assassin John Wilkes Booth. Producer Ridley Scott says, "This is really the Lincoln story you've never seen before."

After NatGeo's wildly successful scripted drama Hatfields & McCoys, the network decided to produce another made-for-TV historical drama. Killing Lincoln will air sometime in February. Will you be tuning in?

Nancy Pelosi Takes Gig On "30 Rock"

January 06, 2013 | 12:18 PM PST

Filed under: Tina Fey, 30 Rock, NBC, Politics, New TV

Does it make you mad when politicians act like celebrities?

Because why not? It's not like she has anything else… wait a second! Isn't she part of our Congress that can't seem to get anything done in an efficient manner? Perhaps this is why! Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has accepted a guest gig from Tina Fey to appear on NBC's 30 Rock. "I would do almost anything Tina Fey asks me to do," Pelosi said. "I'm flattered that they asked me to make a cameo in the series finale."

To be fair (Which we always are here at WT411), Republican Condoleezza Rice appeared on the show when she was Secretary of State.

Al Gore Sells Current TV To Al Jazeera

January 06, 2013 | 07:00 AM PST

Filed under: Al Gore, New TV, Politics, Scandaloso, NEWS, Awards

Will Al-Jazeera try to use its American TV channel to promote Islam?

Nothing like a former U.S. Vice President making deals with anti-American outlets! After making millions and winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on global warming, Al Gore decided to launch Current TV in 2005. The left-leaning news outlet was a total disaster financially as few watched the channel. And now, Pan-Arab channel Al-Jazeera has struck a deal with Gore to acquire Current for roughly $500 million. That means Al-Jazeera will invade some 40 million homes in the USA.

I'm all for freedom of speech and not suggesting that Al-Jazeera be censored, but Al-Jazeera America? What do you think?

There's a reality show on just about everything these days, but this one just might take the cake! TLC has unveiled the trailer for its new show Best Funeral Ever and it's simply outrageous. The show centers around the Golden Gates Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas, where celebrating death is the main theme. Give the video a watch before you make any concrete opinions - the show actually seems kinda fun… in a very weird way.

Best Funeral Ever premiers tomorrow at 10 PM. Will you be watching? Or is this show dead on arrival? ;)
