Banana Joe Wins Westminster Best In Show

February 13, 2013 | 01:11 PM PST

The 137th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Show held in the Big Apple's Madison Square Garden was won by a little Affenpinscher named Banana Joe. The little guy beat out dogs more than triple his size at the dog equivalent of the Super Bowl.

Banana Joe's nickname is "monkey face" for his uncanny resemblance to primates, his handler Ernesto Lara told reporters. So what made the tiny dog stand out? He has "a big heart," exclaims Ernesto.

Will accusations of animal abuse stop you from seeing "The Hobbit"?
Peter Jackson's The Hobbit hits theaters on December 14th, but the film is causing quite a stir already -- not for its special effects or great acting, but for how animals were treated during production! According to the American Humane Association, as many as 27 animals died during filming. Horses, sheep, chickens and goats reportedly suffered one injury after another due to the dangerous Wellington farm location. Wranglers say the animals continuously fell into sink holes, breaking their backs. At least one horse had to be euthanized.

A rep for director Peter Jackson admits that two horse deaths could have been avoided, but says the producers "completely reject" accusations that 27 animals died because of mistreatment.

Is losing a pet sometimes just as hard as losing a family member?
The Dog Whisperer, aka Cesar Millan, has helped countless dogs overcome bad behavior and other disorders, but in 2010 it was Cesar who needed rescued. Revealing in an upcoming Nat Geo special titled Cesar Millan: The Real Story, the TV personality says he attempted suicide two years ago. In February of '10, Cesar's beloved pit bull Daddy passed away. Then in June, his wife of 16 years filed for divorce. "I was at the lowest level I had ever been emotionally and psychologically," says Millan. After surviving an overdose, Cesar says work, exercise and affection helped him recover. He's dating again, and is head over heels calling her "the one."

So happy you're better, Cesar! Suicide is NEVER the answer.

Are Will Ferrell's funniest movies behind him?

Both are two of my favorite actors, albeit in very different genres! Funnyman Will Ferrell was spotted out in Hollywood this week getting in his exercise with a brisk run. The 45-year-old is currently filming Anchorman: The Legend Continues.

Meanwhile, 48-year-old Oscar winner Russell Crowe got in his cardio by riding his bike around New York City's Central Park. Crowe is currently filming the Darren Aronofksy-directed religious film Noah alongside his A Beautiful Mind co-star Jennifer Connelly.

So… who has got the better beard? And whose film are you more excited to see?

Do celebs purposely cause controversy to promote their show or movie?
If you see an adorable Shih Tzu running rampant around Los Angeles, grab it and immediately call the number listed on this flyer! Woody Harrelson's dog Bonny went missing recently, and the actor has posted flyers advertising a reward on his new film's website Seven Psychopaths. After reading Woody's message, it's rather clear that this is just a clever marketing tool for his upcoming flick.

And after I was genuinely concerned for a minute, that sorta pisses me off...

Aubrey O'Day Has Serious Mental Issues

June 26, 2012 | 10:00 AM PDT

Filed under: Aubrey O'Day, Furry Friends, Random

Have you ever lied to a doctor to get a note to get out of something?
Former Danity Kane singer and Celebrity Apprentice Aubrey O'Day has some mental issues... After being spotted in first class with two seats (One for her, one for her two small dogs), Virgin America told TMZ O'Day was cleared to bring her two pets into 1st class because they're registered as "Emotional Support Animals."

While ya might argue all animals are, for it to be official a licensed mental health professional must write and sign a letter saying the animal's companionship is a necessity for the client's mental health. Virgin also says the letter must state the passenger "has a mental health-related disability" for the animal(s) to board the plane.

No word on what disability Aubrey suffers from, but we're guessing the fallout from being famous? This story is redunkulous.

For years, Oprah has denounced 50 Cent's use of the N-word, and the overall message in hip-hop. So awhile back, 50 decided to name his dog Oprah. Appearing on Oprah's Next Chapter, the media queen confronted him on the name. "I heard you have a dog named Oprah. That was not a compliment," she said to the rapper. Fifty replied, "I love you, you know how they say a dog is a man's best friend?... I would see moments where you would discuss your feelings on the culture, and everything that was wrong with the culture was on my CD… and I was like, 'She doesn't like me.' At the time, I was just looking at the situation and I saw I was developing negative feelings for someone who doesn't even know me."

Soooooo you named the dog after said person?! Oh, and by the way, 50 admitted he also has a cat named Gayle! Haha. Hilarious. The two seem to hash out their beef during the interview, which is good considering the world's got much bigger problems!

Is it a little weird for someone to include a pet in their wedding?
If you're one of the 570,000 people who "like" him on Facebook, this will come as no surprise. For the rest of us, meet Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan's pup named Beast. The shaggy Hungarian sheepdog played a vital role in the couple's recent wedding by walking the bride down the aisle!

Beast entered the Zuckerberg home last March, two months after he was born. The pup has since become an Internet celebrity of sorts gaining more than half a million followers on Facebook!

Why not? Little dude is adorable! Picture from People.

Is the saying, "There are no bad dogs, only bad owners" true?

Filming an Italian commercial on the sunny beaches of Malibu, George Clooney's new best friend is an adorable golden retriever! I'm not sure of the premise of this ad, but I definitely wanna see it as it looks like the two pals are having a chat/bark about life staring into the Pacific.

Funny, cute. Me like. (But isn't rule #1 of acting don't work with kids or animals? Hey, everybody's gotta start somewhere Georgy!)
